Dad get's to hear baby for the first time.

On Monday last week I went with Becky to Dr Bellin's office, it was just a routine pregnancy checkup but I wanted to meet the Dr. and ask questions and see what exactly they are doing to my wife.

Dr. Bellin has a kind face and she's really gentle with Becky. Becky asked some questions, peed and got her blood pressure taken and then She asked Dr. Bellin if we could hear the heartbeat.
The Dr. took some jelly and put it on her stomach, then took a microphone and pressed it into her belly.

She moved it around for a while, apparently trying to locate the sound. Meanwhile the speaker device which is just a little hand held thinga ma jig is sqwaking and feeding back like a cb radio. Not that I have any basis for these assumptions, but I thought baby was laying in mom's tummy in one spot. After all where is he going to go? After a couple of tries I'm starting to get nervous, you know, where is our baby's hearbeat already?

Then we hear it fly by! It's kind of a whoosh whoosh sound, but the little guy is hauling a** in there, so it kind of has a doppler effect to it, and the Dr. starts moving the microphone all around trying to keep up! He's literally bouncing off the walls, and Becky's laughing at me because I've got this huge totally involuntary grin, I'm completely in this moment and not even remotely self aware.

And now I'm chuckling to myself b/c it occurs to me it won't be long before I'll be running around after little Jet Li Jr. Now I'm totally excited for the ultrasound on Jan 4. that's right around the corner!

questions & answers

day of discovery?
october 12 at 1:45 pm this date is rather special because this is the wedding anniversary of grandma and grandpa bristol. after being told by Dr. Bellin becky ran home and instantly feel asleep, because that is all becky did for the first two months was sleep. aaron left work early excited to hear the news woke becky up and off we go to buy a carton of ice cream.

have you heard a heart beat?
on the eighth week or november 9th at 1:45 Dr. Bellin put a microphone to my belly. the little heart beat was so strong and fast it was incredible. all becky could do was go home and sleep and be amazed.

what is the due date?
the due date at this time is june 10, 2007 which is really fun because its only 5 days after our 3rd wedding anniversary.

will you find out the sex?
yup. aaron really wants to know the sex of the baby becky on the other hand could go either way, but since aaron knows if he finds out and becky does not all becky will do is pester him until he tells her, so to make things easier we will both know on the eighteenth week. (only a month away)

how is becky feeling?
becky is doing well the morning sickness which was really evening sickness is pretty much gone, right now my balance is off because my belly is getting bigger, none of my clothes fit, and all i can do is eat, aside from that all my energy is back and we are all working on fixing the house up in preparation

will becky finish school?
yup. what can i say i like being busy. i have about three more years until i graduate but i intend to continue with fingers crossed that more classes will be available on line but.......if not.......

will becky and aaron both continue to work full time?
yup. for now............

names?
we have a few names thought out and all that will be posted for another week to keep the excitement going.

ps. becky and i only talked alot about ice cream, but since it wasn't a payday we didn't really go. she just thought that sounded more romantic.
