kitchen with a sink!!!

why yes you are looking at a 175 lb porcelain sink and a birch wall...please just b/c we live in the ghetto does not mean....
actually there is always a practical reason for everything including marble counter tops....
(what you see on the counters is temp until we can get the marble cut)
we are actually taking the kitchen for a test drive for the next week as frank and dennis work on a another project....
so we have to decide if we want marble for all the counters, what stain we want for the the birch wall which will have a built in on top of the windows and a counter under the window....these are the activity centers of command central demands on who you are talking to
we welcome thoughts and suggestions this has been a crazy ride and aaron and i are toooo tired to process many more decisions
i will keep the pictures coming as we begin to move into our space
it is happening!!!

baby love

we have had an awesome!! couple of days...the benefits of being between jobs right? a week and a half vacation of none stop baby love!
anyway sadie and i had girls day on thursday and got our hair done, went shoe shopping, went to the restaurant and got fries and the park...not to mention the beach with the boys
the boys had boys day so they went to the flats to check out the trains and steel factories etc....both kids had SOOOOO much fun!
and it was great to be out and about playing
I will post pictures of sadie and bun bun getting their hair done needless to say this will become a monthly tradition now because it was toooo much fun not to keep going
so the kitchen is still in a state of progress but as of tomorrow we will have a sink and a STOVE! look out world we will be cooking once again.
this has been an adventure and one that i say has been well worth it but we are all ready for it to end.
i have this week off and my mission is to clean! if it can be washed i will wash it, if it walks away from me i will wash it....the house will be hosed down (and so will the dog)
Frank and Dennis caught us a garter snake which sadie and silas squealed over.....such delight...so now we are on a mission to find a aquarium to fill with creatures
i really want to find some tadpoles and a newt or something
these two love all things squirmy
silas has turned over every brick in the yard searching for "snakes" aka worms
until later stayed tuned.,,,the world is moving fast in our little corner but all good things

oh the kitchen...

kitchen kitchen kitchen

i think the pictures say it all
but we are boxing in the fridge....building a wide windowsill for the two windows and to the left of the two windows we are putting in a floor to ceiling cabinet
we are getting three pendant lights and a small ceiling fan, marble counter tops, garbage disposal and WALLS!!!!

kitchen......

so....even though the bathroom has been utter chaos... i am actually going to create a sign that labels this bathroom as one of the levels of hell...or perhaps that is to kind maybe purgatory?
dennis and frank have taken care of us
they put a toilet in the basement for us!!! yipppppeeee!! no more nature toilet for us
and they put up drywall in the kitchen, wired it, hooked up the gas line and we are still rocking and rolling
sadie and silas find all of this lots of fun...really they just like to feed dennis and frank chocolate and talk to them non-stop about dolls, cars, the dog.....you name it
anyway here are only a few shots of the kitchen because it is late and i am getting tired

yes the bathroom again!!!

so you can see the plumbing....and you can see the new frame for the kitchen...but there was a leak a very very very bad leak
bad floor means bad leak
and the one thing aaron and i have learned in the last 6 yrs living in this house is NEVER NEVER ask why the previous owners did this or that b/c in reality it really is why didn't they do something
i mean they did tile the bathroom floor but in wall tile and they did tile it over the original floor that had been there since 1914 and they never did fix the leak
so i won't rant about all this b/c as you see from the photos
we have a wonderful, level, secure bathroom floor!
wonderful!
let me say this again dennis and frank have nursed this house back to a safe living condition
i have so many stories about this bathroom...but the ceiling did fall into the kitchen
so that is one of the many reasons we have had a delay on the kitchen but really a beautiful bathroom

where have we been??

we are still here playing and imagining!
this has been a tough tough week.....in so many many ways
but i will leave a lot of my story telling about the house for the next post
this post is all about the babies
sadie is getting bigger everyday with new thoughts and stories that are amazing to hear
tonight when aaron was combing his beard she said "daddy are you brushing your fur?"
bubby hates HATES short sleeved shirts and will not do anything with out a coat, or sweater...so this will be an interesting summer...since he has gone on at least an hour long screaming protest of the short sleeved shirt
right now we are talking lots and lots about sadie's b-day
she wants to invite everyone! which would mean like 50 kids?!?
we are going to try and keep this event real or as real as we can to perhaps 15 kids from the neighborhood
aaron and bumpa have taking up extreme grilling....so when there is a lightening storm come on over we will be having freshly grilled hot dogs and burgers
(and yes aaron the food was so well worth you risking your life for, but one does extreme things on week 3 without a kitchen)
we have taken to lots of puddle jumping and splashing (otherwise known as the hippie shower and this is what happens when you don't have a bathroom)
but we are surviving...very tired and sometimes very cranky and fussy but things are looking good and things are almost done if not done!
until later stayed tuned to hear about our cardboard toilet and dishwasher houses, hippie showers and days at the beach
