merry x-mas!!!!

okay so before you start yelling at me for being two weeks delinquent on the blog postings let me just say happy holidays and happy new year......
we the sick house i think have gotten every odd strain of illness that is available on the mass market of illness
yes....that is the reason you have not heard from me...i was out for about 4 maybe 5 days with the tummy flu and let me say YUCK!
but so far all the kiddies aaron included has seemed to avoided it
but it was bad very very bad
trip to the er to get rehydrate and let me say that i think one should be able to purchase their own personal IV drips and have the option of administering it personally from home
after my re hydration i felt good.....i actually could drink a glass of water
okay enough about me and my illness
x-mas was wonderful!!!!!
"santa" got sadie and silas a train table which of course they love
silas likes to pretend he is godzilla tearing the city down and sadie neatly organizes the trains and box cars
sadie also got a dollhouse which she loves to spend hours playing pretend
though i think sadie's favorite presents are the ones silas got and i think silas's favorite are the ones sadie got
so for next year "santa" may not label anything and just say go for it....
"santa" had a late night putting everything together..."santa's" statement is "you need three arms and zero gravity to put these things together" so next year...."santa" swears no presents that require a screw driver.....though aaron did get me a toolbox for x-mas nicely decorated with my name in very big letters so i can tackle the house with out looking on top or in the fridge for the tools i need
oddly enough i am not sure how it happens but i have found tools in the the cheese drawer
anyway.....
we had a fun time and thank everyone for all your warm thoughts and wonderful presents!!!

silas is saying maaamaaamaaa and daaaadaaadaaa lots and is becoming very vocal about his opinion which means do not take his dinosaur away EVER
sadie is doing great and loves to read
she has to fall asleep every night on top or in between the pages of her mother goose book
it takes her about an hour after we turn off the light to fall asleep
she reads mother goose or her "little" books which are actually silas's little books to her dr. lamby
it is great that she loves to read the few times i have moved the book in the middle of the night i am awaken only a few hours later to put it back...this is fight i am not willing to have a three in the morning thus i have stopped removing the book
silas is still cruising the furniture he has stood on his own now for 1 minute before crashing onto his bucket
he is rather proud of himself
he also loves babies!!!!
if he sees a picture of a baby or sees a baby he tries to kiss them
his kisses of course are still big wet and sloppy but he does loves kissing and hugging
he is very mommy focused right now so i can not leave the room with out big wet tears
he is going to "food school" with sadie and loves it...though he plays soooo much that he is usually in bed by 6 pm which only means he is usually up ready to play at 4:30 or 5.....
ah....i wish we had night owls instead of early risers
anyway better run and get this posted

PS. rocker daddy has said goodbye to the lawton bros. he had his last show at the Grog shop last week
this weekend though they will be recording so yes you can listen to your favorite lawton bros tune in the car......request your cd now....

being two what it is all about

we have been experiencing what i would call extreme 2
being 2 extreme style
what this means is the whining is in an extreme pitch and for extreme amounts of time
what this also means on the flip side is when the hugs and kisses come they are extreme not just one kiss but a flurry of them and hugs so tight they make you melt!
we will survive i know and silas is learning A LOT by watching all the interactions
he has learned about "time outs" and the word "NO" probably way before his time but.....he has been warned
silas is up cruising the furniture crawling super super fast and yes he did stand by himself unassisted for about a minute before he fell on his bucket
sadie has two favorite stuffed animals
dr. lamby and dr. bear bear
last night she was telling me the story of how bear bear was flying through the sky to see mama bear bear and daddy bear bear, dr. bear bear was going home
and when dr. bear bear was tired of flying she would climb onto dr. lamby and dr. lamby was going to take her home
sadie loves reading and loves imaginary play
she falls asleep every night under a pile of "to much books"
currently sadie loves going to potty
the main reason why is after she goes potty she gets a chocolate.....
good thought in theory until.....she figured out that if she sits there all day sooner or later she will go potty in the potty and get a chocolate
so there have been days we have sat on the potty for about an hour ready toy magazines
yes sadie sits on the potty reading a magazine while silas jumps in his jumper that is hooked up to the bathroom door...it is a family activity sadie and the potty
cleveland has gotten some really high winds the last few days
one or two snowflakes and -8 degree (with wind chill)
so of course what happens....the roof that aaron and bumpa put up on the lean too peeled off like a scab....so aaron is up on the roof in 28 degrees reinstalling yet another roof on our poor poor garage
but......the days of not working on the house are coming to an end (i hope)
we are going to try and fast track things so yes we can move in 2 yrs
what does this mean.....
well all those little things will get done
we have curtains for the kitchen (which will hopefully get installed tomorrow) and i will finally finish making ones for sadie's room....this also means all the trim in the house is going to be painted
and yes we bought doors! so all the rooms in the house will have doors
i am a big fan of craigs list and figure we can outfit our house one door at a time
so right now i am looking for an interior glass entry door that is 36' x 80' if you have any thoughts or any laying around let me know
we are going to look at x-mas lights tonight and maybe meet santa not sure though.....i remember thinking the guy in the red suit was scary till i hit about 4 or so.....so who knows......

what x-mas means to......

silas thinks the ornaments on the tree are for nursing
sadie thinks about all the presents she will give
"daddy is getting the color black"
"sadie is getting the color orange"
"mimi is getting the color green"
what color do you think sadie will get you?
meow meow thinks the ornaments are for her exclusively to play with
and babe thinks the tree is for her to watch meow meow entertain herself with
so by now you can guess we got a tree
a very very little tree so that we can buy big presents to finish filling out the small amount of space in our house that is not already covered with toys
if you are still trying to come up with a gift idea....
sadie can always use toothbrushes and silas likes everything sadie has.....
so
turkey day was relaxing
i got two naps in which was necessary since someone (i will not point fingers) decided it was a good idea to wake up at 4:00 am
this nameless someone has decided to wake up early many mornings so that he may crawl and tell stories
as much as i love to hear a good story i am typically not up for kicking it back at 4 am but so it goes
three more weeks of school and i am done for the semester
the light at the end of this tunnel is so so bright i actually am blinded by the idea of being done that i am not doing much for class
as long as i get a C i will be okay
so far in my masters degree career i have only gotten one B+ everything else has been an A so.....

i actually saw a snow flake so it is happening it is official winter is here

turkey time

oh yes it is almost that time to sit down and eat and eat and eat
for me i am thinkin' a day off to maybe nap than eat than nap
either and or any way works
so the odd thing is lots of things have been going on and we have been doing lots of things but

• i can not remember most of what we do but i know we did something because i am tired
• none of it is all that interesting so do you really want pictures of me doing laundry?

so this week you get movies (if i can figure out what blogspot did with the video you will get videos)
no stories really
silas is crawling lots! which is causing sadie to hoard her toys and declare "mine" than she starts laughing when baby starts crawling really really fast to follow her and her toys
we have had lots and lots of conversations about sharing but technically the concept is tooooo abstract that supposedly kids don't get it till they are 7

lucky for us we have 5 more years of this
turkey day this year is going to be quiet and mellow with all the going ons, which basically is school, work and life it will be nice to have a quiet day together
this weekend we may try and get a tree
not sure if we will go hunting for a tree this year or not right now it is hard to imagine that since it is like 60 degrees out but.....(the thing that amazes me is there are people who do not believe in global warming)

"mommy you are christmas"

lately aaron and i have been amused at sadie's comments
sadie what do you want for christmas
"pillows and the color green"
every night she sings herself to sleep
the songs usually go like this
"i bumped my head, i love daddy, i played with declan, go to the doctor, i love daddy, babe, baby, i read to much books"
and every morning she wakes up with a similar song
"i read to much books and play i love daddy"
baby usually wakes sadie up every morning with a big wet kiss i put him in bed with her and and she hugs and hugs and tells me how much she loves baby
baby is starting to realize his name is silas and not baby
anyway.......
baby silas is crawling forward!!!!
most of his motivation is either for food or me
he is pulling himself up in the crib and loves to stand
he locks his knees when you pick him up because he will not sit unless he falls from standing
he is saying "ma mamama ma" and "da da da da"
his favorite saying though is "na na na na"
he did say "moo" for cow the other day which delighted sadie to no end
he is also clapping his hands
so aside from the fact that number 2 is now becoming mobile we have been hanging low getting ready for x-mas
do not tell sadie but she totalyl scored
yes we got presents already

• sadie and silas - got a train set
• sadie - a doll house
• silas - a light up stacking game

if you want x-mas ideas for sadie and silas here it is
(we are not opposed to second hand items at all)

• sadie loves clothes!!!! she is a size 3t top and 2t bottom
• sadie- jammies
• silas also love clothes but he only needs jammies he is in 12 month
• sadie is totally into dora or super why
• silas likes to sort things and loves textures - he asked for a pony but i don't think babe would like that
• silas would love some big cars to roll around on the floor
• aaron and becky LOVED the movie land of the lost with will ferrell

yipppppeeee! another day off i do love this time of year
it is all about food and days off

new haircut!

sadie had fun at the salon getting her haircut
really it was a trim off the back but she was able to eat crackers, drink juice and watch dora!
i mean how fun...not sure if the dentist will bring the same sort of fun but
she was a little scared by the blow dryer which was fine since it was 70 degrees out it was better go au natural
we had a fun weekend of playing in the yard with the leaves and enjoying the last drops of sunshine before the winter gray pulls a blanket over cleveland
silas loves playing with the leaves and only tried to eat one before he realized it was not that tasty
this week is my last week for one of my classes! yipppeeeee!
that means only three more to go until i graduate
oh man the day i graduate...........
aside from that nothing much is going on
getting the menu ready for turkey day and buying xmas presents at least thinkin' about buying xmas presents
not sure yet but we think sadie and silas are getting a train for xmas
silas is pulling himself up and has made a few crawls forward though seems totally bored with the idea of crawling and is putting more time into a crab walk
sadie finds this great
and loves the idea of having a permanent playmate just so long as he only plays with the toys she lets him paly with
enjoy the days of sun and warmth

we had a wonderful halloween
sadie and declan totally scored on the candy
and cookies
i think sadie consumed 5 cookies in one sitting
though she may have had more that we are not aware of
eitehr way by the end of the day she was running around the house with no mission or goal
just running and running
which of course means that when it was time to go to bed tears were shed then crash out when the light and she was out snoring away happily!
silas was dressed and ready to go but it was bed time
so after a few fusses off to bed he went
he did wake up in time to meet lucille and was fascinated by her
kept trying to pet her and kiss her
lucille is such a cutie only one month old!
she came dressed as a biker babe so maybe this is what got silas's attention
either way we did get a few pictures but most of the night i was running!
sadie loved passing out candy to all the kids so was outside most of the night charming her fans
now it is time to get ready for turkey day and x-mas! can not wait! okay so we like the holidays

silas hates socks!

okay so i suppose i have not told you all tooooo much about the personality that is budding from our baby boy but i suppose that is because it changes daily and is so incredibly amusing....
silas hates socks
screams and kicks and thrashes around when you try and put socks on him
shoes well that is the cherry on top of the sunday
he likes to be able to stretch and flex his toes and shoes just aren't going to let that happen
in the last month we have gone through two pairs of shoes
he also is a struggle to dress......he flips and he flops, he rolls and stretches but do not think about getting that shirt buttoned.......easily
so now you know what he hates
what does our dear boy love......
FOOD!
and lots of it and all the time
a normal feeding for him would be an entire avocado, banana, a cup and half of rice cereal with carrots and apple sauce, and a 6 oz bottle of milk.....you would think this is a big lunch for an adult much less someone who has a tummy the size of a ping pong ball but no if given the option he will keep on eating
if you stop during the feeding for more than 5 secs to rest your hand, wipe his mouth you will hear about it
he throws his fists up and yells at you
he is learning the sign language sign for more so that is typically what he is doing
it is amazing to watch and terrifying to think of what will happen when he gets older
aaron may have to start looking for a second job......oh silas
every morning silas curls up next to sadie to wake her up and gives her big open mouth kisses
which of course sadie returns with hugs and snuggles
he loves his sister and loves other babies, actually he loves everyone and when given the option will give hugs and big open mouth kisses
he has become very mommy focused the last few days and yells when i leave the room he has to see me at all times
last weekend we went to boo at the zoo and had fun walking around and running
the eve was nice not tooooo cold so sadie was able to sort of dress up as a farmer
she was a farmer in a leather jacket, so a hip rock and roller farmer
we are getting ready for halloween
got a few more ghosts to build and put up and a about 20 more lbs of candy to purchase aside from that we are ready for the crazy parade of little sushi's, spidermen and batmen!
hope everyone is doing well and has been able to survive the onslaught of colds and flus
we are on the mends which is good since the weather the last few weeks has been in the 60's and wonderful!

lost in the land of colds!

yes you heard it here
we have all gotten the cold and being good environmentalists have recycled it
so the never ending cold is still going
though (do not tell the cold this) but i think we are on the up swing
aside from eating vicks vapor rub we are all doing well
going to school, food school, work and infecting as many people as possible by leaving the house
to go play with the farm animals and take haunted hayrides!
no cold will knock this family down we will continue with our adventures in the cool grey land of cleveland
so what has been happening.....
we are hanging out getting ready for halloween and blowing our noses
aaron has taken over the kitchen and has become the no salt chef!
so if you are looking for any low sodium or no salt recipes he is the man to talk with
if you did not know we are on a a very very low sodium diet
the kind that gets blown out ofthe water if you eat one tater chip
so because of this we are making everything from scratch
pasta sauce, bread, hummus etc
which is all yummmmmmmmmyyyyy!
i think next on the list is pasta....(hint, hint, nudge, nudge)
anyway this week we are going to go to Boo at the Zoo and continue to hang decorations up for halloween
silas is loving the lights and sadie thinks the skeletons are hilarious!
