chaos knee deep in diapers

okay i was not joking before when i stated the amount of diapers we go through
it is AMAZING!
and yes i could spend this entire entry talking about poop because as any parent knows poop talk is really fascinating in an odd sort of way....
it lets you know all is okay
and let me just say ALL is OKAY
silas had a check up at the docs and he is doing great
11.5 pounds and 23 inches long
he is cooing, babbling and laughing i am pretty sure at us
as we fumble once again around trying to figure out the language of a new born
he cries when sadie cries and sadie cries when he cries
so sometimes the house sounds like we have set up an awesome surround sound system and put an album of baby cries on
really though the there is very little crying
silas as his decompression time which just so happens to be when we sit down for dinner
fork mid air to mouth the crying starts
he did get a chance to hang with mimi and bumpa last week and did wonderfully
took to the bottle after giving mimi a very serious you got to be kidding me look which for him is a normal look
what have we been up to?
well cleveland has been going back and forth on the weather
some days it is 60 others it is 30
so we take walks when we can and we nap when we are not walking
i suppose though we are trying to get a routine down
b/c yes next week the reality show called juggle a baby and life really begins
i go back to work and in just a few months i go back to school.....
so let the fun begin right?
anyways we have lots of wonderful things to look forward to
aunt cyndie and grandpa B are coming into town
so sadie's fan club continues which of course means
presents, walks, singing and reading oh my!
well better get going
b/c i got to go change yet another diaper

okay lets start with some good sadie and silas stories.....
always makes one monday better if you can laugh right?
first off though welcome back to work aaron!
hope all is going well!
give me a call at lunch time.......
silas and i are making stew.....doing some tummy time.....and if my cold allows we will take a walk to look at all the bulbs!
yes spring has finally arrived!
which for me means a spring cold
anyways we had a great week with aunt meloyde! otherwise known as "rhea"
not sure where sadie gets these names but she keeps asking for "rhea" especially during bath time
think rhea ended up getting a bath at the same time
thank you aunt mel for everything we miss you lots!
sadie story:
sadie and mimi went to music class which is always great fun b/c sadie gets to dance and sing with her buddies
this particular music class mimi forgot to bring back up diapers.....
really no big deal but this particular class
sadie danced and danced and danced right out of her diaper
so laying on the floor for all the parents to see is a big wet soggy sadie diaper
so mimi promptly scooped it up before anyone noticed whisked the bare bottom sadie to the bathroom and proceeded to tape the diaper back on....
story number 2:
we were just finishing up dinner and sadie was eating her tots
(side note sadie's fav food's right now is matoes, blueberries, and booty......that is pirates booty...otherwise known as organic cheese puffs)
silas began is usually grunts and whimpers which means time to pick me up and play with me
so i pick him up place him over my shoulder and whats happens next is projectile spit up....
yes two feet into the air and across the room
sadie watches the whole thing and states
"it's raining" "coat" "it's raining"
hope these two stories get your monday off to a good start
silas is now 1 month
happy 1 month b-day silas!
he is lifting his head up and looking around
he really likes to look at plants.....is still a little overwhelmed by sadie and elmo....but when he is awake he is very alert
he pushes up on his legs, loves bath time and is starting to coo and babble a little
aside from that we are hanging out for the next two weeks till i go back
UGH!
still waking up every three to four hours
so going back to work will be interesting since coffee even decaf is totally out of the picture, along with chocolate, tomatoes, onion, broccoli and garlic....so oatmeal is alright.....

week 2 and 20 months

okay we started out with 500 some diapers and believe it or not i think we have gone through 400 of them
no i was not kidding when i said all we do is change diapers
so aside from changing diapers what has the new little bundle of joy brought to our house?
a very excited big sister!
sadie can not get enough of "si"
she loves to kiss him and tickle his toes
we are actually getting sleep silas wakes up about every three hours to eat and get his diaper changed
he knows when it is day time and night which has been great
he is also very good at holding his head up for long periods of time
he gets wide eyed at about 5:30/6:00 in the morning so i have actually read a book!
okay so it is sad for me to say but since i have been in grad school it has been about three years since i actually read a book that did not have to do with information architecture or usability so i am excited
and for all of oyu who really want to know i read the "scent of sake" i would recommend it
anyways....
silas did go to the docs he is gaining weight happily....then we went for dim sum!!!! yum yum! and went shopping at the asian grocery store a little awe struck by the variety of fish options, candied, pickled, dried, salted, roasted to name a few.....
sadie has been playing lots going to the natural history museum and the children's museum and of course the favorite library
everyday she amazes aaron and i with a new set of vocabulary words.....she not only mimics but actually is starting to understand the point of verbs, nouns, and adjectives....granted her favorite adjective is cute
time is going by fast only four more weeks and i am back at work
so i am trying to sleep and rest as much as i can before we have to get off silas time and get back into the "real world"
well that is all for now i am being called once again
PS. sadie did go see elmo live and LOVED it she was most amazed when the count walked past her.....
