tractor and fall fest

again a bit of a rainy fall day - but we ventured out in the cold and the wet to get our faces painted for the very first time
Sadie got a butterfly and Si got a red hedgehog
i have to say this - once you go face painting you never go back - both kids are totally hooked on it now - so hooked that if you are looking for christmas gifts think face paint
which i know i am early in the game but i will get the xmas wish list up soon i promise
anyways it is another tradition that we go to lake farm park every year for the tractor festival and play in the hay maze and slosh around in mud and run away from mommy in the corn maze (this always causes me panic like every time this happens you would think i would of learned by now to put both kids on a leash, right?)
Sadie is learning lots from school - they talk about learner profiles and one of them is being principled
she has taken this to heart and really tries to be principled and caring to others especially her little brother
which is great - but we still have those days in which they each have to have their own floor - this is obviously until i can get them each their own little house :)
and yes i am still day dreaming of great landscapes with lots of little houses on it - but while i am day dreaming nothing is being done on our house - no worries though - both kids are in school and we are good for the next 2 years or until both trees fall on the house (which i am still hoping for)

Garlic Festival

ok - every summer i try and cram in as many fun things as possible and sometimes we try out new things
most of this summer though was hanging at the splash park or the beach - i mean when it is hot and dry out what do you do but hang in the water right
but as soon as fall hits i start to get a little overwhelmed because i have such little time to get LOTS of fun things crammed in
and of course this time means some very tired children
with school starting we have had very very tired children - Sadie and Si had both started school when we headed out to the Garlic Fest which was a blast!
i think the kids loved riding the euclid beach rocket more than anything else i mean how could you not have fun driving around shaker heights in a big silver rocket!
what a wonderful way to end summer and start fall!
(and yes that is a big head of garlic walking around the festival)

Silas starts PRE-SCHOOL

yup the little guy is going to pre-school !!!!
we are so excited to have to join in the montessori school
not sure how things will work out since we have done A LOT or adjusting for kindergarten
and let me say this - when your kids are going off into the world as little people and not kids things change
Sadie has had a hard time with the no nap concept - and going to bed early concept - and the listening concept - and the homework concept
i don't think Silas will have the same challenges but he will be with new teachers, new students and new routines
for the next few weeks he is being "phased" in so a few hours a day until he gets used to the routine
he thinks he is going to animals school since his classroom has a spider named "Taco" and a gerbil no idea what his/her name is and there is another animal but i think it is on vacation
so far though his first day was great!!!
