Silas starts PRE-SCHOOL

yup the little guy is going to pre-school !!!!
we are so excited to have to join in the montessori school
not sure how things will work out since we have done A LOT or adjusting for kindergarten
and let me say this - when your kids are going off into the world as little people and not kids things change
Sadie has had a hard time with the no nap concept - and going to bed early concept - and the listening concept - and the homework concept
i don't think Silas will have the same challenges but he will be with new teachers, new students and new routines
for the next few weeks he is being "phased" in so a few hours a day until he gets used to the routine
he thinks he is going to animals school since his classroom has a spider named "Taco" and a gerbil no idea what his/her name is and there is another animal but i think it is on vacation
so far though his first day was great!!!

sometimes you need a break

ok - Sadie has been school now for a week - and it has been hard
no napping i think has been the hardest but we really are changing EVERYTHING
the food is different the routine is different everything even down to the socks!
she is trying but there are times you can tell she just wants to collapse and have fun
so why not?
one day after school the kids meet me down at the memphis kiddie park to just play and forget about all the new responsibilities - because being in kindergarten there are responsibilities - you are now responsible for eating your lunch, putting your stuff in your back pack, walking to your classroom, sitting on your hands and being quiet when someone is talking....oh the list goes on and on - sort makes me a bit panicky thinking about ALL the rules!!!!
She is doing good though and every day is a bit better - but i can not wait until this new routine becomes a routine.....

Raccoon Festival

We have a new tradition - last year drove to Burton to go to a country music festival - this year we did the same thing though we ended up spending the entire day there!!!
which was wonderful.
the Raccoon Festival is now one of our favorite things to do in August - as you can tell from the pictures the weather was wonderful - it was cool in the shade but warm in the sun - either way it did not matter to either Sadie or Silas - they both got up on the stage and danced - actually getting a few adults to come on stage with them!
as the kids get older we have learned that they need to run and dance any possible chance they can get and this festival is the best place to do all of it!
we are looking forward to next year and all the fun to be had - i think next year we may try camping!
which reminds we - the weekend before we went - we actually did try camping.
this summer had been an odd summer - very very hot and very dry (actually all summers are suppose to be like that right?) anyways - we decided to try out our new tent - this is no super tent - but a backyard hobby type tent
we packed the car with food, sleeping bags, clothes, potties, etc....and drove out to Punderson State Park - there were big black clouds in the sky - but we figured we would try and see what happens - well wouldn't you know it
we pitched the tent and it started to downpour - not is did not rain ALL summer but as soone as we pounded that stake in it did not stop for another 20 hours
we survived though - a little soggy and yes there was a small pool of water in the tent when we woke up - but the kids had a blast and are up for trying again!
this time though i might pay closer attention to the weather and actually listen to it :)
